Children’s Ministry

Our Children’s ministries are designed to help each family with the spiritual, emotional, and social development of each child.  Every program focuses on certain needs in the family.  We want all our children to be grounded in their faith in God and develop friendships that last a life time.

Bible School Classes

There is no greater calling on earth than to teach God’s word.  We appreciate so much the commitment of our teachers to the Lord and their desire to serve the church family by teaching.  We have Bible classes for all ages—cradle roll through adult.  The children are divided by age and grade.  Each class has a teacher and co-teachers.  We are blessed to have many talented teachers in our congregation.  Coordinators oversee each department and serve as an encourager to the teachers.

We presently use in our preschool and elementary classes the 21st Century Christian curriculum, “New Life Through His Word.”  Each quarter follows an overall theme or topic.  The material has a two hour format, so Sunday and Wednesday night classes are on the same lesson.  Each class has learning goals.  Even the toddlers can understand basic Biblical truths, as God loves them.

Children’s Bible Hour

On Sunday night we have three Bible Hours for children 3 years old through 2nd grade.  These Bible Hours are during the worship times and help the children learn about God and His love for them.  The K-2nd grade Bible Hour also teaches the children about manners in the worship service.  The Bible Hours are great fun for the children.

King’s Kids and Carpenter’s Kids

We want our children to grow socially.  The goal of this program is to provide social activities for these children to grow in their relationships.  We hope that as the children build relationships that the parents will build relationships also.  The King’s Kids is for children in 4th through 6th grades.  The Carpenter’s Kids is for children in Kindergarten through 3rd grade.

Lads to Leaders

This program involves students and their families from 3rd grade through college and focuses on developing leadership abilities.  The students gain experience in many areas that allows them to have the confidence and understanding to use their talents in service in the church.  Some activities are team oriented, while others are individual.  Some events are competitive and others are not.  The program begins in August each year and ends in April at the National Convention in Nashville.

Vacation Bible School

Each summer one of the highlights for the children is VBS.  Children from all over the community come to learn and have fun.  VBS is for children 3 years old through 6th grade.  Our theme in 2008 was "God's Big Backyard."  It was a great study about service:  service to family, friends, community, and God.  Our theme in 2009 was "Riders of the Great Roundup."  It is a western theme with lots of exciting stories with "Dusty Trails" and his three cowboy friends.  We studied some of the great parables of Jesus about our stewardship of His word and our devotion to others.  It was an exciting time for all the children.

In 2010 VBS will be July 12-16.  I hope you will make your plans to come.
